Choice fields
Choice fields let respondents pick from a set of predefined options. In Formester, you can choose between Single Choice, Multiple Choice, Picture Choice, Dropdown, and Matrix Choice depending on your needs.
Single Choice
Adding the Single Choice Field
- Open your form in the editor.
- Click Add Elements.
- Under Choice Fields, select Single Choice.
- The field will appear with default options like Option 1, Option 2.
Customization Options
- Option Labels: Rename options to match your question.
- Layout: Display options vertically or horizontally.
- Default Value: Pre-select one option if needed.
- Required Toggle: Make it mandatory to choose one option.
Use Cases
- Yes/No Questions: “Do you agree with this policy?”
- Surveys: “Pick your favorite color.”
- Feedback Forms: “Rate your overall satisfaction.”
Multiple Choice
Adding the Multiple Choice Field
- Open your form in the editor.
- Click Add Elements.
- Under Choice Fields, select Multiple Choice.
- The field will display checkboxes by default.
Customization Options
- Option Labels: Add descriptive choices.
- Select Limits: Set minimum or maximum number of selections.
- Default Values: Pre-select one or more options.
- Required Toggle: Make it mandatory to pick at least one.
Use Cases
- Interest Forms: “Select the topics you’d like to learn.”
- Event Preferences: “Choose the sessions you plan to attend.”
- Product Feedback: “Which features do you use most?”
Picture Choice
Adding the Picture Choice Field
- Open your form in the editor.
- Click Add Elements.
- Under Choice Fields, select Picture Choice.
- The field will appear with placeholder image options.
Customization Options
- Image Upload: Add your own pictures for each option.
- Labels: Add text under each image to describe it.
- Layout: Show images in a grid or list.
- Selection Type: Allow single or multiple image selections.
Use Cases
- Product Selection: Let customers pick items visually.
- Design Feedback: “Which logo design do you prefer?”
- Quizzes: Use images as answer choices.
Dropdown
Adding the Dropdown Field
- Open your form in the editor.
- Click Add Elements.
- Under Choice Fields, select Dropdown.
- The field will appear with a default dropdown menu.
Customization Options
- Option Labels: Add your choices to the dropdown.
- Default Value: Pre-select an option.
- Searchable Dropdown: Make it easier to find options in long lists.
- Required Toggle: Ensure one option must be selected.
Use Cases
- Country/State Selection: “Select your country.”
- Forms with Many Options: Reduce clutter by using a dropdown.
- Job Applications: “Pick your highest qualification.”
Matrix Choice
Adding the Matrix Choice Field
- Open your form in the editor.
- Click Add Elements.
- Under Choice Fields, select Matrix Choice.
- A grid with rows and columns will appear.
Customization Options
- Rows: Define the questions or items to be rated.
- Columns: Define the scale or choices (for example, Agree–Disagree).
- Response Type: Allow one choice per row (radio buttons) or multiple (checkboxes).
- Required Toggle: Ensure users must respond to all or selected rows.
Use Cases
- Surveys: Collect feedback across multiple statements.
- Comparisons: Ask users to evaluate several options against criteria.
- Training Feedback: “Rate each session on relevance, clarity, and usefulness.”
Publishing Your Form
- Once you finish setting up your choice fields, click Publish.
- Use Preview to confirm the layout and behavior of Single Choice, Multiple Choice, Picture Choice, Dropdown, and Matrix fields.
- Test selections to ensure data is captured correctly.
