Link

The Link Field lets respondents share web addresses directly in your form. This is especially useful when you want people to provide their website, portfolio, LinkedIn profile, or any other online resource.

  • Open your form in the editor from the Formester dashboard.
  • Click Add Elements.
  • Under Basic Fields, select Link.
  • A link input field will appear on your form.

Settings

  • Label: Give your field a clear title, such as “Website URL,” “Portfolio Link,” or “Company Website.”
  • Placeholder: Add guiding text like https://example.com so users know the expected format.
  • Required Toggle: Switch this on if you want every respondent to provide a link.

Default Value

  • You can pre-fill the field with a default link, such as https://formester.com.
  • This helps during testing or when you want to suggest an example URL.

  • Job Applications: Collect applicant portfolios, LinkedIn profiles, or GitHub repositories.
  • Client Onboarding: Ask businesses for their company websites or product links.
  • Surveys and Research: Allow respondents to share reference links or resources.
  • Event Registrations: Request personal or organizational websites to support networking.

Publishing Your Form

  • Once you set up the link field, click Publish.
  • Preview the form to check that the link field displays correctly.
  • Test by adding sample links to confirm that they appear as expected in responses.
