Restrict Submissions to One Per User
Allow Only 1 Submission per User Using IP or Email
Formester lets you limit each user to only one submission. **You can do this by checking their **IP address or their email. This keeps your data clean, stops repeat entries, and gives you more control over who submits your form.
Why You Need It
When you run surveys, quizzes, registrations, or training workflows, you want honest and accurate results. If people submit many times, your data becomes messy. By allowing only one submission per person, you protect your form from duplicates and keep every response trustworthy.
How to Set It Up in Formester
Follow these steps to restrict your form to one submission per user.
Open Your Form
Log into Formester and open the form you want to control. You can create a new form or choose any existing one from your dashboard.

Restrict by IP
If you want to allow only one submission from each IP address, follow this path.

- Open the form builder.
- Click the settings icon on the top right.
- Go to Form Behaviour.
- Scroll down and turn on Unique IP.
This blocks users on the same device or network from submitting more than once.
Restrict by Email
If you want to limit submissions by email, you can do that inside the builder.

- Add an Email field to your form.
- Click the Email field to open the Properties panel.
- Go to the Advanced section.
- Turn on the Unique option.
Now users can submit only once with the same email address.
Test Your Form
Preview your form and submit a test entry. Try submitting again with the same IP or email to confirm the restriction works the way you want.
What You Can Do Next
Once your one submission rule is active, you can:
- Protect surveys from repeat answers.
- Control registrations and sign ups.
- Run fair quizzes and assessments.
- Keep training progress clear for every learner.
- Make sure each user submits just once.
Final Thoughts
Restricting submissions by IP or email in Formester gives you simple and strong control over your data. You prevent duplicates, keep responses clean, and build forms that stay accurate and easy to manage with little effort.
