Partial submissions
How to Enable and Manage Partial Submissions
Partial submissions let you capture responses even if respondents do not complete the entire form. This is useful when you want to understand where users drop off, recover incomplete data, or follow up with respondents to complete the form.
Steps to Enable Partial Submissions
Step 1: Open Your Form
Log in to your Formester account and open the form you want to edit.
Step 2: Click the Gear Icon
In the top right corner of the form builder, click the Gear Icon next to the Publish button.
Step 3: Go to Save and Continue
From the settings menu, select Save and Continue.
Step 4: Toggle Partial Submissions On
Find the Partial Submissions option and toggle it on. This will allow respondents to save their progress and submit the form even if they do not complete every question.
How to View Partial Submissions
Step 1: Go to the Results Tab
Once your form starts receiving submissions, navigate to the Results tab in your Formester dashboard.
Step 2: Use the Dropdown to Filter Submissions
At the top of the submissions table, you will find a dropdown menu. Use it to switch between viewing full submissions and partial or incomplete submissions.
This lets you quickly analyze which responses were incomplete and identify trends in drop-off points.
Why Use Partial Submissions?
- Recover Incomplete Responses: Follow up with respondents to complete their form.
- Analyze Drop-off Points: Understand which questions or sections may be causing respondents to leave the form.
- Improve Form Design: Adjust questions or layout based on partial submission data to increase completion rates.
- Capture Valuable Data: Even if a respondent does not finish the form, you still get partial insights.
Pro Tip
Combine partial submissions with automatic page navigation and conditional logic to create forms that are easy to complete and highly engaging, reducing drop-offs and increasing response quality.
