Self email notifications
How to Set Up Email Notifications in Formester
Email notifications keep you instantly informed whenever someone submits your form. With Formester, you can set up automatic notifications for yourself and your team so you never miss a lead, request, or response. You can also configure advanced settings like reply-to emails, SMTP integration, and PDF attachments.
Steps to Set Up Email Notifications
- Open your form from the Formester dashboard.
- Go to the Settings tab and click on Email Notifications.
- Click Add Email.
- Enter the recipient’s email address, first name, and last name.
- Click Save.
That’s it. Within seconds, you’ve set up your first email notification. Every time someone submits your form, the email addresses you entered will receive a notification message. You can add as many team members as you need.
Test Your Email Notifications
To confirm that notifications are working:
- Open your form’s public URL.
- Submit a test entry with sample details.
- Check your email inbox. You’ll receive a notification from [no-reply@formester.com]() containing the form submission details.
Configure Reply Settings
By default, notifications come from a no-reply address. If you want to directly reply to the respondent without composing a new message:
- In the Email Notifications settings, click on Configure Settings next to the added email.
- Provide a reply email subject.
- Choose the form field that contains the respondent’s email address (for example, the “Email” field).
- Now, when you click Reply inside the notification email, your response will automatically target the respondent’s provided email address.
Advanced Options
Use Your Own SMTP Server
Instead of sending notifications from Formester’s no-reply address, you can set up SMTP integration. This allows you to send emails from your own server and domain, making your communication more professional and trustworthy.
Add Multiple Recipients
You’re not limited to one email address. Add multiple team members so that everyone who needs access to submissions can be instantly notified. This is especially useful for sales, support, or HR teams that rely on quick follow-ups.
Use Cases for Email Notifications
- Lead Generation: Get notified as soon as a new lead fills out your contact form.
- Customer Support: Ensure your team can respond quickly to support requests.
- Recruitment: Notify multiple HR team members when a new job application arrives.
- Event Registration: Stay updated on sign-ups and send timely confirmations.
